School Social Workers

What we do: School Social Workers serve as a link between home, school, and community, focusing specifically on removing social and emotional barriers to learning. They participate in multidisciplinary teams to evaluate students for special education eligibility and develop individualized education programs (IEPs).  In addition, School Social Workers are trained to develop data-driven Behavior Intervention Plans to support student success. They act as systemic advocates, connecting families to essential resources while ensuring the school remains a trauma-informed environment. Furthermore, they are often the lead professionals in crisis intervention, performing threat assessments and suicide risk evaluations to keep the student body safe.
