What we do: School-based physical therapists support students in accessing and participating in their educational environment by addressing mobility, balance, coordination, strength, and motor planning needs that impact school performance. Physical therapists collaborate with teachers, families, and other educational team members to help students safely navigate the school setting, participate in classroom routines, access the playground, and engage in physical activities alongside peers. Services may include direct intervention, consultation, accommodations, and recommendations for equipment or environmental supports. The goal of school-based physical therapy is to promote independence, safety, and successful participation in the student’s educational program.
