Hudsonville Public Schools has two important funding proposals on the November 3, 2026 ballot: Non-homestead operating millage renewal and sinking fund renewal. Both proposals, if approved by voters, would renew the current millage rates and not increase the current tax rates. Each proposal has specific legally allowable uses, and funding from each proposal must be kept separate.
Non-Homestead Operating Millage Renewal
NO TAX RATE INCREASE
Funding for operational and educational programming
- This is a renewal of the current rate voters approved in 2024. Voters have approved this operational funding for 32 years.
- It is not a new tax. In order for the District to receive its full per-pupil foundation allowance from the state, HPS must levy 18 mills on non-homestead properties.
- Even though primary homes are not affected, state law requires a district-wide election to consider this millage.
- This money cannot be replaced by other sources. Without this funding, significant modifications would be made to programs and operations.
Sinking Fund Millage Renewal
NO TAX RATE INCREASE
Funding for repairs, school safety, and more
- This is a renewal of the current rate voters approved in 2023. Voters have approved this funding for 28 years.
- It is not a new tax.
- At Hudsonville Public Schools, the sinking fund would help address our most pressing aging facility issues, repairs, and school safety.
- Voter approval of the sinking fund helps to keep the district’s general fund dollars in the classroom.
