Fifth Annual Strike-Out Pediatric Cancer Baseball and Softball Tournament

May 12

10:00 am

Varsity baseball and softball fields at the Baldwin Street Athletic Complex, 3835 Baldwin Street, Hudsonville, MI 49426

The Strike-Out Pediatric Cancer Tournament was started after a Hudsonville High School student, Thomas Sikkema, was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer called CNS Germinoma in 2013. Thomas underwent brain surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation for many months in order to make sure he could return to baseball for his senior year at Hudsonville. Luckily, Thomas was successful in his treatment!

With the help of friends, family, teammates, and Hudsonville Public School's faculty, his dream of raising funds and awareness for pediatric cancer research at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital was made into a reality.

On Saturday, May 12th, Hudsonville High School, and the Milan Miracle Fund will be hosting the 5th Annual “Strike Out Cancer” tournament between Hudsonville, Howell, Sterling Heights, and Mattawan varsity baseball teams. In addition, the Hudsonville, Zeeland West, Mona Shores, and South Christian High school softball teams will be competing. The goal of the tournament is to continue to raise awareness and funds for Pediatric Cancer research. The proceeds from the event will benefit the Helen DeVos Children’s hospital and the multitude of tests they are conducting to help cure specific types of Pediatric Cancer.

This year, the games will be held at the Hudsonville High School Varsity Baseball and Softball fields at the Hudsonville Sports Complex on Baldwin. The day will include corn hole games along with a raffle, T-Shirt, and food sales. Admission is free, but donations are greatly appreciated. Opening ceremonies of the tournament start at 10 AM at the Varsity baseball field, including multiple guest speakers and the first pitch. We look forward to seeing you there!
